THE RIGHT WORDS – Ep.9 Stereotype of the Successful Woman
The first virtual and cross-border library against gender stereotypes and discrimination has been set up between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia: 18 multilingual podcasts, recorded in English, Italian and Slovenian, to describe, through as many key words, the world of women and the obstacles they have to overcome. An investigation that starts from language, but is then also reflected in the actions and behaviours of daily life, which see women often struggling with discrimination, especially related to their working and social life. This is one of the results of the project, funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme. The Right Words: language education against gender discriminations (The Right Words: language education against gender discriminations), and which for 18 months saw CISL Fvg, as project leader, the Department of Legal, Language, Interpretation and Translation Sciences of the University of Trieste, the School of Advanced Social Studies of Nova Gorica (FUDS), and the associations Diritti a Prescindere of Udine and Listina Raznolikosti Slovenija of Ljubljana working side by side.
Nasce tra Friuli Venezia Giulia e Slovenia la prima libreria virtuale e transfrontaliera contro gli stereotipi di genere e le discriminazioni: 18 podcast multilingua, registrati in inglese, italiano e sloveno, per raccontare, attraverso altrettante parole chiave, il mondo delle donne e gli ostacoli che esse devono superare. Un’indagine che parte dal linguaggio, ma che poi si riflette anche nelle azioni e nei comportamenti della vita quotidiana, che vedono le donne spesso alle prese con discriminazioni soprattutto legate alla loro vita lavorativa e sociale. E’ questo uno dei risultati del progetto, finanziato dall’Unione Europea, sotto il programma Erasmus+ The Righ Words: language education against gender discriminations (Le parole giuste: educare al linguaggio contro la discriminazione di genere), e che per 18 mesi ha visto lavorare fianco a fianco Cisl Fvg, come capofila, il Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche, del Linguaggio, dell’Interpretazione e della Traduzione dell’Università di Trieste, la School of Advanced Social Studies di Nova Gorica (FUDS), e le associazioni Diritti a Prescindere di Udine e Listina Raznolikosti Slovenija di Lubiana.
Med Furlanijo-Julijsko krajino in Slovenijo je bila vzpostavljena prva virtualna in čezmejna knjižnica proti spolnim stereotipom in diskriminaciji: 18 večjezičnih podkastov, posnetih v angleščini, italijanščini in slovenščini, ki s čim več ključnimi besedami opisujejo svet žensk in ovire, ki jih morajo premagovati. Raziskava, ki se začne z jezikom, nato pa se odraža tudi v dejanjih in vedenju v vsakdanjem življenju, v katerem se ženske pogosto spopadajo z diskriminacijo, zlasti v zvezi z njihovim delovnim in družbenim življenjem. To je eden od rezultatov projekta, ki ga je financirala Evropska unija v okviru programa Erasmus+ Pravilne besede: jezikovno izobraževanje proti diskriminaciji na podlagi spola (The Righ Words: language education against gender discriminations), v okviru katerega je CISL Fvg kot vodilni partner 18 mesecev sodeloval z Oddelkom za pravne vede, jezik, tolmačenje in prevajanje Univerze v Trstu, Visoko šolo za družbene študije v Novi Gorici (FUDS) ter društvi Diritti a Prescindere iz Vidma in Listina Raznolikosti Slovenija iz Ljubljane.

The stereotype of the successful woman equates success with male attitudes and appearance, leading to judgements based on physical beauty rather than ability. This false attribution perpetuates gender stereotypes and inequality by devaluing women’s qualities and focusing on their outward appearance. This has an impact on women’s competence, instilling feelings of guilt with long-term consequences on their success
Lo stereotipo della donna di successo equipara il successo agli atteggiamenti e all’aspetto maschile, portando a giudizi basati sulla bellezza fisica piuttosto che sulle capacità. Questa falsa attribuzione perpetua gli stereotipi di genere e la disuguaglianza, svalutando le qualità delle donne e concentrandosi sul loro aspetto esteriore. Questo ha un impatto sulla competenza delle donne, instillando sensi di colpa con conseguenze a lungo termine sul loro successo.
Stereotip uspešne ženske enači uspeh z moškim odnosom in videzom, kar vodi do ocen, ki temeljijo na fizični lepoti in ne na sposobnostih. To napačno pripisovanje ohranja spolne stereotipe in neenakost, saj razvrednoti lastnosti žensk in se osredotoča na njihov zunanji videz. To vpliva na usposobljenost žensk, saj v njih vzbuja občutek krivde, kar ima dolgoročne posledice za njihov uspeh.
